Sentinel is seeking a highly motivated Windows Server Engineer to join our clients Server Operations team. This position plays a critical role in supporting and maintaining a large-scale enterprise infrastructure consisting of approximately 1,800 physical and virtual servers across Dell hardware and Microsoft Hyper-V environments.

 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced enterprise environment, can independently drive projects to completion, and quickly adapts to changing technology and business requirements. This role combines Windows Server administration, enterprise print services management, automation, security compliance, and infrastructure support to ensure reliable and secure printing services for business-critical operations.

 

This is a 1 year contract opportunity for a hybrid role based in Chicago, IL.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support enterprise Windows Print Services and PaperCut print management solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve printing issues across user devices, multifunction printers (MFDs), print servers, and application layers.
  • Provision, configure, and maintain enterprise print servers using established standards and tools.
  • Monitor print infrastructure and respond to alerts, incidents, and performance issues.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft Universal Print deployments.
  • Support the integration and maintenance of Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP printing solutions.
  • Collaborate with application teams on print server software installations and infrastructure support.
  • Maintain disaster recovery environments and execute recovery planning for print services.
  • Lead initiatives related to patching, security compliance, vulnerability remediation, and audit findings.
  • Automate server deployments, patching, and configuration management processes.
  • Document and manage print server assets and infrastructure inventories.
  • Work with third-party vendors to troubleshoot issues and implement recommended solutions.
  • Participate in a 24x7 Windows Server on-call rotation for critical infrastructure support.
  • Cross-train with team members and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives.

 

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise print management solutions, including PaperCut.
  • Experience with Universal Print deployment and management.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server automation and configuration management.
  • Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and business continuity procedures.
  • Understanding of infrastructure security best practices and vulnerability management.
  • Experience working in hybrid cloud and enterprise datacenter environments.
  • Ability to evaluate technical challenges and recommend scalable hardware and software solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience administering Windows Server 2016, 2019, and/or 2022 in a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Experience supporting Hyper-V and System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM).
  • Experience with Windows Print Services. Print server administration
  • Microsoft Failover Clustering
  • Server migrations
  • OS and host patching
  • Hybrid cloud infrastructure
  • Microsoft Azure administration
  • Certifications such as MCSE, VCP or PaperCut Admin would be nice
  • A valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance will be required
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Must demonstrate a “can-do” attitude

Compensation Range: 

$45.00 - $51 an hour
