Sentinel is seeking a senior-level infrastructure leader to design, stabilize, and modernize a highly available hybrid environment for one of our strategic partners. This role blends deep hands-on expertise in Cisco networking and VMware virtualization with strategic influence across cloud, security, and operations teams. You’ll serve as the senior escalation point, guide infrastructure standards, and support mission‑critical warehouse and logistics technology. Ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys ownership, mentorship, and shaping the future of enterprise infrastructure. This role reports to the Operations Manager and CIO as part of a collaborative IT team. This is a contract-to-hire position and requires onsite work at the client location in Wauconda, IL.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of progressive experience designing, operating, and supporting enterprise network and infrastructure environments.
  • Advanced hands-on expertise with Cisco routing and switching, including complex troubleshooting in production environments.
  • Extensive experience administering VMware vSphere at scale, including host, cluster, and VM lifecycle management.
  • Deep knowledge of virtual networking, segmentation, and hybrid infrastructure architectures.
  • Proven success supporting always-on (24x7) operational, warehouse, or logistics environments where uptime is critical.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical design efforts, resolve high-impact issues, and clearly communicate with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Industry certifications preferred - Cisco, VMWare, Security+, Etc.
  • Organizational leadership qualities with a desire for growth
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, stand, walk and sit
  • A valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance will be required
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Must demonstrate a “can-do” attitude

Compensation Range: 

$120,000-$150,000
